Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” The word “strong” means ‘mighty,’ or ‘stronghold.’ The word ‘tower’ means elevated stage used as a lookout-tower. When the words are used together, their meaning in our world would be ‘safe room.’ It was a place where people could go in a time of trouble, lock themselves in, and know they were safe from whatever the enemy threw at them. Jehovah-Sabaoth — “The Lord of Hosts, our Protector.” He is our ‘strong tower.’ There is none more mighty. And He protects his children.
